Roots Movement is about working together as a community to take environmental action for a healthier planet and a brighter future.
Tree planting is integral to Roots Movement because planting a tree is an environmental action with a long lasting legacy. And of course, trees are great for lots of reasons.
If we plant a tree alone, we will grow a tree. If we plant trees as a community, we will grow a forest. It is essential we work together for the future of our planet.
During Roots Week, a tree planting week we started this year, we held simultaneous tree planting events in the UK and Kenya. 4,500 trees were planted at 25 different locations including 20 schools, and an indigenous tree nursery was set up in Kenya with a committed young Kenyan Roots Movement team. Next year we will be coordinating a big community owned replantation project in Chepulungu Forest, Kenya, a forest decimated by deforestation, as well as holding multiple events in Kenya and the UK for Roots Week.
Our t-shirts are hand printed, made from fair trade cotton and are 100% climate neutral.
Our bags are made entirely from recycled plastic carrier bags with the odd flourish from recycled tape cassette reels. They’re made in a slum area in Nairobi, Kenya by an HIV support group, each one taking 2 days and approximately 30 recycled bags to make.
All money raised goes towards community tree planting in Kenya and East Sussex.
Thank you very much for your support.
Roots Movement. Our future, now.
